Dr. Fernando Gonzalez is a neonatologist at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. He specializes in the care of newborns with brain injury, premature infants and infants requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) or an artificial lung. Gonzalez's research focuses on neonatal brain injury, neonatal stroke, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, neurogenesis and stem cell plasticity.
